Prior to his ABL experience Richard played NCAA Div 1 Baseball for the University of New Mexico where he attended University and in the US College system with Clarendon College prior to this. Since 2012 Richard has been a Div 1 & 2 player at Goodwood Baseball club and has been involved in two premierships with the club. Richard initially went to the US as a Catcher & Middle infielder and then converted to pitching and has a good all-around perspective of the game with a wealth of experience, please join me in welcoming Richard to our club.
Division 1: Assistant Coaches
Most of you will know Lawrie who is a Life Member at WDBC and current SA Women’s Senior Team coach who recently won a Bronze medal at the National Championships which was an amazing achievement. Lawrie has coached at all levels at our club for many years and brings a wealth of experience to our Senior coaching panel.
Mike has been a player at Woodville since junior days and has played over 300 games for the club. Mike is the head baseball coach at Woodcroft College where he is the Senior Physical Education Teacher & also works with SASI as a talent search co-ordinator and High Performance Athlete programme co-ordinator predominantly with Volleyball.
Thanks to both gentleman for their commitment to the club for the coming season and in assisting Richard.
It is with great pleasure that I announce that Mr Troy Nicholson has been appointed as our Division 2 coach for the 2019/20 season. Troy has been at Woodville all of his playing life and is a current member of our Division 1&2 squads, Troy has represented South Australia at junior level and has just played his 400th game for our club in his early twenties. Troy has some coaching experience in Little League Charter & also assisted in Div 2 in 2018/19. Troy is a highly committed player and member of our club and is really looking forward to the opportunity to take the step into the coaching ranks. Already Troy has been very proactive in getting Division 1&2 squad players to some light training sessions on Wednesday nights with accessing the batting tunnels and doing some light work.
Division 2 Assistant
Troy will be assisted by Mr Shane Nicholson who coached the Division 2 side in the 2018/19 season to a finals berth. Shane was recently made a life member of the club and is highly committed to the club in all aspects and we really appreciate his efforts in offering to take up the assistant role for the 2019/20 season.
The Senior squad will shortly be meeting the coaches for the upcoming season and we will also allow other players and members the opportunity to meet the coaching panel and senior playing group prior to the commencement of the 2019/20 season which will be an exciting one for the Woodville Baseball Club.
